Crucible liners are an insert that may be placed inside of the crucible to achieve the desired thermal / mechanical or chemical compatibility. These applications include source materials that would react with the standard crucible material, and melting materials that have a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the crucible material. Crucible liners contain the molten or reactive material within the standard crucible, preventing damage to the crucible and protecting the furnace.
